Features of a Plasma TV Stand by Laura Coates
While shopping for a plasma TV stand, it is important to know that you have options in your choice. There are several features that you can either leave or choose, and depending on your use for it and your personal preferences. These features include whether to opt for adjustable height, wheels vs. no wheels, color choice, and storage.
Height
Plasma TV stands can often be found with an adjustable height option. From 18â to 5â from the ground a plasma TV stand can be adjusted to fit your family (or patient or studentsâ) viewing comfort. Buying a few plasma TV stands and putting them at different heights for each room can be an invaluable choice. Children will need a lower TV than in the kitchen, for example. It is recommended that the TV be lifted off the stand before the height can be adjusted, so keep that in mind when choosing whether to enjoy that option.
Wheels
Plasma TV stands come with the option to have the stand completely mobile. Wheels will allow you to move the stand about the room at your ease. No wheels means you will have to take down the TV and then move the stand. What you need to consider is that even if the stand has wheels, it is recommended for safety that you lift the TV down first anyway, so unless the plasma TV stand is extraordinarily heavy, wheels may or may not even matter much to you either way. Wheels on plasma TV stands usually come with a wheel lock to keep anything from free-rolling, so putting a plasma TV on a stand with wheels is not necessarily an accident waiting to happen.
Color
Colors are often an option with plasma TV stands. Black, white, and silver are standard colors, but if you buy one in a good metal material it is possible to customize the color to whatever you want. If your children want purple or green, so be it. But for more family-centered rooms like the kitchen or living room, choosing a color to go with your personal style might be important to you. Though admittedly to some it does not matter one way or another.
Storage
Another huge option for a plasma TV stand is whether to buy the stand with storage. Some people enjoy the sleek and streamlined look of a single shelf at mid-shaft or no storage at all. Others love the convenient storage at the bottom of the stand or several small shelves along the shaft of the stand for electronic equipment.
