Fiji and Samoa are the world top class rugby teams which are again going to participate in Rugby world Cup 2011. Players of both teams have great talent and spurb revolutionary efforts to do best in the grounds to get the cup.

The Fiji national rugby union team is one of the strongest national rugby union teams of the world, and the third-strongest from Oceania, even still as a second tier nation. It is a member of the Pacific Islands Rugby Alliance (PIRA) formerly along with Samoa and Tonga. In 2009, Samoa announced their departure from the Pacific Islands Rugby Alliance, leaving just Fiji and Tonga. Fiji are ranked ninth in the world by the IRB as of 23 March 2009. Despite this low rating in the 2007 Rugby World Cup Fiji defeated Wales 38-31 to claim a quarter final spot (theoretically placing them in the top 8 teams in the world) and proceeded to give eventual winners South Africa a scare eventually going down 37-20. Fiji is one of the few countries where rugby union is the main sport. In addition a significant number of players eligible to play for Fiji end up representing Australia or New Zealand; two notable examples are the Fiji-born, but New Zealand-raised, cousins and All Blacks Joe Rokocoko and Sitiveni Sivivatu and Wallabies Wing Lote Tuqiri. Fiji has won the most Pacific Tri-Nations Championships of the three participating teams. The cibi (pronounced [imbi]) war dance is performed by the Fiji rugby team before each Test match. It has been used on the rugby field since 1939, though its origins date back to the country's warring times with its Pacific neighbours.

The Samoa Rugby League team represents Samoa in rugby league football and has been participating in international competition since 1988. From 1988 to 1997 this team was known as the Western Samoa rugby league team. The team has recently been nicknamed Toa Samoa. Western Samoa has participated in the Pacific Cup (1988-1996), World Sevens (1994, 1995) and Super League World Nines (1996, 1997) competitions. Samoa has participated in the Pacific Cup (since 1998), World Cup (since 2000), World Sevens (2003) and Pacific Rim (2004) competitions. That Samoan team had the benefit of ex-All Blacks John Schuster and Va'aiga Tuigamala in their backline. When rugby union went professional players such as Apollo Perelini and Fereti Tuilagi left rugby league to return to the 15-man game. Samoa played in the Pacific Pool of the 2008 Rugby League World Cup Qualifiers. They beat the Cook Islands and Fiji, but lost to Tonga. On a points difference, Samoa came in third and had to play USA in the Repecharge Semi Final. Samoa won this match 42-10 and then played Lebanon on 14 November 2007 in the Repecharge Final to see who would take the 10th and final World Cup place. Samoa came out eventual winners of the 10th and final 2008 Rugby League World Cup place beating Lebanon 38-16[1] at the Chris Moyles Stadium, Featherstone.
